Dr. Sureyya Dikmen, Ph.D.
Dr. Dikmen’s research has focused on examination of outcomes following traumatic brain injuries, and interventions to improve their negative consequences. Traumatic brain injury is the leading cause of impairments and disabilities in previously healthy people. Dr. Dikmen and her group have extensively published on outcomes of traumatic brain injuries, recovery of function and clinical trials aimed at improving the negative consequences of these injuries.
Dr. Dikmen and her colleagues have examined the neuropsychological and everyday life limitations that occur following traumatic head injury, the magnitude of the problems, recovery from them and prediction of who will have them. The large randomized medical clinical trials have included neuroprotection trials, and prophylaxis trials for post-traumatic seizures. The group has also conducted a number of single and multicenter trials involving psychological interventions to improve function using tele-health.
